The Lodge at Cathedral Pines · Black Forest, Colorado

Celebration of Life Venue in Colorado Springs

A celebration of life honors the joy, love, and memories of a life well-lived rather than focusing on loss. The Lodge at Cathedral Pines offers a peaceful place to hold one in the Black Forest of Colorado Springs: a warm main hall with a stone fireplace for gathering and stories, and 11 quiet acres of pines, ponds, and walking paths for reflection. The space holds up to 125 guests indoors, or 175 including the outdoor space, and weekday rentals start at $1,250.

A Gentle Setting for a Meaningful Goodbye

Make It Personal

The most healing celebrations reflect the person: a memory table with photos and keepsakes, their music playing through the sound system, a slideshow on the big screens, a story-and-toast hour by the fireplace, or a walk to the pond to scatter petals. Our team has hosted many of these gatherings and can suggest ideas that fit the person you are honoring.

Planning a Celebration of Life, Step by Step

Families usually find the planning gentler when taken in this order.

Choose the timing that serves the family

Celebrations of life are often held weeks or months after a passing. Take the time you need; gathering everyone matters more than the date.

Pick a place that feels like them

An outdoor lover, a host, a quiet soul: the forest setting, the fireplace hall, and the patio each set a different tone, and all are included in the rental.

Invite stories, not just attendance

Ask guests ahead of time to bring a story, a photo, or a song. An open microphone hour, a memory jar, and a photo timeline give everyone a way to contribute.

Let food do what food does

A favorite meal, a family recipe, or a simple reception spread gives people a reason to linger and remember together. Bring any caterer you like.

Celebration of Life FAQs

A funeral is a structured, formal service focused on mourning, usually with visitation, a service, and committal. A celebration of life is informal and personal: it honors who the person was, with stories, music they loved, photos, and food, in a setting that reflects their life rather than a chapel.

There is no set timeline. Many families hold one weeks or even months after a passing, which allows time to plan, gather far-flung family, and grieve first. We can usually accommodate dates on shorter notice in the off-season and on weekdays.

The rental includes the main hall with its stone fireplace, tables and chairs, a sound system with microphone, and two 75-inch screens for photo and video tributes, plus all 11 acres of forest, ponds, and walking paths for quiet reflection. Weekday 4-hour rentals start at $1,250.

Yes. There is no mandatory vendor list. Families often bring a favorite caterer, a potluck-style spread, or the person’s favorite restaurant, and alcohol is welcome with a TIPS-certified bartender and event insurance.
